Porn... Can I Please Stop now?

In the book of Romans, chapter 7 Paul is talking about the very thing many men (and now women) struggle with. Sexual Purity, Porn... but it doesn't stop there! Uncontrollable cravings like food issues, substance abuse, self injury, gambling and many others have permeated our society. In Romans 7:21-25 Paul says:

"I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. 22 For I joyfully agree with the law of God in the inner man, 23 but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members. 24 Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? 25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin."

What Paul is saying here is really quiet simple and if we are honest with ourselves we get it.  "We want to do good, we want to do the right thing but we find ourselves screwing it up almost every time!  Then comes the guilt, shame & condemning thoughts and a wonderfully messed up self image. This is where suicide thoughts try and take hold.  This is where thoughts of NO HOPE begin. If this line of thinking isn't dealt with, these things become habits, addictions, strongholds in our lives.  We walk around with these feelings of guilt, shame and hopelessness when we don't need to.  We can be free.

"Wretched man that I am, Who can set me free from this body of death."

Thanks God Paul goes on to say: Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!

Earlier in chapter 7 Paul talks about the 2 natures in us after we become believers, Christ followers. "So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin."   These 2 natures war against each other. I want to do what God wants but my sin nature or flesh fights this. (See Eph 4:20-24)

This fight is a daily thing. But again... there is great news about the fight!

1st... Romans 8:1,2  says: "Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death."  Jesus sacrificed Himself on the cross to set us FREE from sin FOREVER.

This is the first thing we at Love Never Fails want to express to you.

You are not judged or condemned here.

Jesus sacrifice did all the work to set you free but it does not stop there. He is not dead!  He's alive with the Father right now praying for you and helping you even if you don't see it.   Phl 1:6 says: "For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus"

So as you scroll down believe me when I say everything you need to be set free from habitual sin  is available if you want it. Decide today that this is the day you were set free.

If you have a sin that you are struggling with and just can’t seem to overcome, it may very well be the result of wrong believing. If you’ve tried and tried to overcome, but just can’t seem to make any progress, it may be because you think you have to get it right before God will love you, accept you and be pleased with you.

The power to be set free comes when your belief lines up with the truth about who you are in Christ and what he did for you. Whether you believe it or not, if you’ve been born again, then you are completely accepted, deeply loved and forever pleasing to God. When you’re struggling in sin and looking at your failures and mistakes, it can seem almost impossible to believe that. But, that’s where faith comes in.

Faith is the act of believing and confessing who you are in Christ and what Christ has done for you, even when in the natural it seems impossible to believe that. You have to determine in your heart to believe what God says about you, regardless of what you’re going through or what things look like in your life right now. You've got to believe that you are completely, totally and forever right with him, even in the midst of your sin, because of what Christ did for you.

As long as you think you've got to clean yourself up or get your act together before God can accept you, you will continue to struggle. Wherever you are and whatever you are doing right now put ALL of you
trust in Jesus and his finished work and trust that what he did was enough. Confess that you are the righteousness of God in Christ. Confess that you are holy and beloved in his sight. Confess that you have been justified and if God says you are justified, then you are justified and NO ONE can accuse you!

You have to believe that you ARE loved by God, you ARE accepted by God and you ARE the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. It takes great faith to do this especially when you are messing up big time and everything is awful in the natural, but it is critical that you do this if you want to be free. When your belief lines up with the truth of what God says about you, that's when the power is released and your breakthrough can occur!
